Traveler's of Time, Space + Matter

It all began with a humble block. 190 in³ of BC grown Western Hemlock. Wood salvaged from a research facility. Tested, broken, studied and discarded. Each block is unique, as different trees grow different grains. A piece starts by splitting, using existing cracks as guidance. The rest divided thoughtfully, with a hatchet and chisel. Within this process of making, a creative negotiation materializes. Relations are formed through narratives, in discovery of the character within. Coloured from its persona and composed from entire the block, no wood is left behind. In this series, transformation takes place. From a humble Hemlock block into a Traveler of Time, Space and Matter
